Call for Applications

This year’s theme, “Geopolitical dis/rupture and education policy,” invites participants to critically explore how contemporary geopolitical transformations shape education systems, governance, and policy processes worldwide.

The Summer School combines lectures and discussions with hands-on research activities. Participants will work in small study groups on a case study focused on international access to higher education, with particular attention to refugees’ access to Italian universities.

Topics include:

  • The role of theory in understanding educational policy
  • Global, national and institutional governance in education
  • Document analysis, discourse analysis and educational ethnography
  • Policies on international access to higher education
  • Urgent policy issues from participants’ countries

Who can apply:

Advanced Master’s students, PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, and early career researchers.

  • Selection results: 19 June 2026
  • Registration deadline: 30 June 2026
  • Participation is free of charge (participants cover travel, accommodation, and meals)
  • 6 ECTS awarded upon full attendance and submission of a short final essay
